Jim Avignon and the voice of irrationality

jim avignon die stimme der Unvernunft

I was in Colone last weekend and visited the TEAPOT Galerie where I enjoyed the exhibition and performance from  Jim Avignon "The voice of irrationality." Jazzy colours, brimming phantasy, humouros.

Neoangin, a One-Man-Band. Loud. Performativ and critical. Out of it. Very close – and the small hydralic ramp wiggled ugly. Working, Travelling, Painting and Performance. Speed not only within arts. Jim Avignon gives everything, not only on stage. Pop-Up art in the narrow sense of the world.

Song Reader Beck

Beck Song Reader 04

Beck Song Reader 05

Even if I claim that Beck is a marketing specialist and not an aritst in the first place I would like to pull my hat off to him concerning his latest "album". Respect.
The idea not to record an album but sell the scores of his music looks like a real milestone in the music business. To give his fans the opportunity to interpret his music in their own way an publish them at the Song Reader Website zu veröffentlichen is a very fresh and new twist within this business.

Beck himself was talking about a dynamic project during an interview with the New Yorker. Musicians and musically gifted people this book is for sure a real challange and enrichment. But what do all the people who are not able to read scores? Well, waiting for his next concert I guess. Which will have a record number of visitors. (Look, and there I see the marceting specialist again) At bottom Beck's Song Reader is the idea of the century. As nowadays a concert often mutates into an expensive reproductive experience after listening to the album over and over again. With his scores he created a renaissance of the concert premiere.

Well, and for all persons who are not really into music but more into visual incentives, Song Reader provides a lot for you too. All 20 songsheets were designed by 20 different illustrators (Sergio Mebrillas, Alonzo Felix, Jing Wei,...). All in all the Song Reader is
printed well and presented in a presentable Retro Look. Except the cover – hmm Mister Beck, apparently there was no illustrator involved?

Woyzeck-Wozzeck

Woyzeck–Wozzeck Münchner Kammerspiele

Woyzeck/Wozzeck did have a great premiere in the Münchner Kammerspiele yesterday.

A highly impressive ensemble, an intensive and exhausting production, a spectacular stage set and outstanding musicians. With this piece the young director Barbara Wysocka created a whole new world of commuters and exposes a painful point of view throughout the themes of guilt and constraint.
This rehash was created from the bases of the fragmental drama of Georg Büchner and the Opera of Alban Berg. Janek Duszynski arranged Alban Berg's music in a whole new way and for a good reason the music is indeed more than accompaniment, a break or an underline. The read thread which the spectator is able to hold on instead of drowning within the violence – whilst Franz Woyzeck (fascinatingly performed by Kristof van Boven) is wading, running, swimming, falling... through the knee deep swimming pool.

The cold is creeping under your skin and watching the permanent wetness in symbioses with the music makes you want to break out or at least help. With a lot of strength you have to remind yourself to breath – that much volume, distress, coercion, power, loss, pain, loneliness and suffering are overwhelming yourself.

A haunting and honest stage play.

Wolfi the musketeer

 Wolfi der Musketier Kinderbuch 01

Wolfi der Musketier Kinderbuch 02

Wolfi der Musketier Kinderbuch 03

I have been at the book presentation of Richard Oehmann's new book "WOLFI THE MUSKETEER"

Wolfi (which is the short form of Wolfgang a pretty common name here in german speaking countries) and his talking Horse-Zebra named "Hebra" (Pfebra in german) have been instructed by their king Achmet to sell misprinted holy picture cards and they are not quite successful in the beginning. Sandra the Pfebra wants to do good business and Wolfi wants to be celebrated by the people as a musketeer. One after another they get closer and start singing together. Great adventures ahead they travel through their king's country...

Richard Oehmann wrote a wonderful story with self-illustrated drawings. The book comes with a CD from the band "Cafe Unterzucker", containing great and funny songs of the two strange adventures heros.
Wolfi the musketeer is a multimedia reading experience for the whole family (sadly only in german!)

Thank you Mister Oehmann, a real pearl throughout the children and adult literature.

Music Video Premiere

A year ago I produced a music video for the new album song "Eine Sekunde von mir" of the new album "Herzton" by Poenitsch&Jakopic two very talented musicians from Munich.

They gave me total artistic freedom. It is pure, experimental and different – conceptualized, shot and composed with love and detailed delicacies. I still love it – and still saying this one year after makes me very happy!

Today is the Pre Release Party of the Song at the nightclub Harry Klein in Munich... so let's collect some seconds and have a look!

Opposites attract | Video Trailer

Opposites Attract from Sarah Pfeiffer on Vimeo.

One loves freedom and being spontaneous – the other is stucked in her own controlled world. What happens when they meet each other?

---

My sister is a vertical rope artist and my husband is a musician. When my sister Sarah had the premiere of her first big show I was honored to produce the video trailer for her cirque noveau show called OPPOSITES ATTRACT. My husband Tobi Weber composed the music and did the audio design. Therefore it turned into a beautiful family project.

Sarah Pfeiffer did this very new and fresh show together with her circus team colleague Josefine Rheinfurth. They wrote, directed and performed OPPOSITES ATTRACT all by themselves and their Premiere in Berlin was a huge success.
It is a very touching and astonishing debut of these two talented young female rope artists. It raises great laughter and opens space for very deep moments at the same time. This new generation of artists have a very sophisticated way to express their view of the world within cirque noveau. The typeanimation and the sounddesign should give a brief insight what this theatre piece has to offer…
Future performances to be announced at pfeiffersarah.com

eine sekunde von mir

A short PREVIEW of my music video for Poenitsch&Jakopic was published today on youtube. I made an experimental music video for their song "eine Sekunde von mir" (one second of mine) from their brand new album HERZTON (heart tune). Filmed with my NIKON D7000, edited with Premiere and After Effects, made with love, ideas, sweat, overnight rendering sessions and lots of seconds of mine!

Upcoming Musicvideo soon!

Herzton | Eine Sekunde von mir

Poenitsch and Jakopic are two musicians who recently finished the work on their latest album "Herzton". They asked me to make the video for the album title. I had so much fun shooting with the musicians and ... well I will not spoil the surprise...

Lets just say, the video turned out fantastic. I mixed video footage with typography and graphic elements in After Effects. Unfortunately the album hasn't been released yet and I am not allowed to show the video already. I am so very excited to have it published via i-tunes soon.

Have a look on their latest interview.
