Pasta – homemade...

We had friends over for dinner today. So what to cook?

Just recently we found our old noodle-machine in the very back of our kitchen-drawer, so we thought why not prepare dinner together and make a big kitchen-action.

Everybody loved it. It is much more fun to prepare your own meal, the kids loved it and the pasta tasted delicious just with butter and garden sage. Not to forget about the perfect spinach-garlic-pine-nut pesto.
Yummmm... so get you hands dirty out there!

(By the way: Try not to start making your own pasta with an empty stomach, it my take a while, but it is worth every minute!)

Is Yoga some sort of sport?

I am not one of these very sporty persons. I have been trying many different sports and people tell you that at a certain point endorphin is released and whatever you do – if it is running or swimming or whatever – your body responds with happiness. Well, maybe I am one of these persons that can't reach this certain state so easily or... I have  just picked the wrong sports so far.

Still, 5 years ago I have found my way to move my body, center my mind and reach this state of happiness: with yoga. So when my yoga teacher asked me recently to develop some posters and flyers for her yoga classes and her yoga meditation course I was very happy to do so!

Now can you tell me if yoga is some kind of sport? If so, I think I have become one of these very sporty persons!

Magic Table Theatre

It seems I am having a magic month. No night circus arrived in Munich as far as I know and thats why I have decided to take part at a similar event... well not so similar indeed but still it was a night to wonder: KRIST & MÜNCH MAGIC TABLE THEATRE.

I was sitting in the first row... the magician was in front of my nose really. It was definitely magic. The magician gave me 4 coins, out of metal, real silver coins (I had time enough testing them) into my open hand. I should close the hand and hold the 4 coins in my well closed fist. Turn it around, and then open it again: 3 coins!! He made one coin disappear. Impossible. I didn't feel any weight loss, nothing...

And this was just the beginning of the show. If you want to spend an evening wondering it is the perfect place to go, very charming and cosy theatre with around 40 seats and very likable magicians anyway. A stunning show you will remember for a very long time.

There is nothing better than turning the world upside down and looking at it in a way you have never been looking with your sane mind.

Night Circus | Erin Morgenstern

It doesn't happen very often that I get completely thrown into a a book's world. Erin Morgenstern describes an extraordinary poetic event in her stunning new debut novel NIGHTCIRCUS: A circus that comes every now and then and only at night … What a journey. I absolutely loved it. I am waiting for the circus arriving here in Munich – and for Erin's new book.

The book cover illustration is especially beautiful and has been crafted by Helen Musselwhite. I just love her sensitive paper-cut illustrations. Don't you?!

The best exotic marigold hotel

A wonderful cast (JUDY DENCH | BILL NIGHY | PENELOPE WILTON | DEV PATEL ...), wonderful british humor, wonderful indian colors. It was my personal "be-as-happy-as-you-can-be-after-a-movie" since Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain.

The very best marigold hotel is a movie which makes you want to grow old or go to India immediately. Or both. I just love the positive attitude that turns you into a complete optimist.

My favorite line: "Everything will be all right in the end... if it's not all right, then it's not the end."

Origami Art

Recently I stumbled over a very interesting publisher. Actually they stumbled over me and now suddenly somehow I am spending my days in Freising where I am involved in a fantastic book project.

VIERECK VERLAG is a very small publisher. Their topic is origami and origami art. They are selling origami books from all over the world especially from Japan, as well as origami paper and everything you need to make beautiful origami artworks. Now they are about to publish their very own first book in Summer.

Origami. A whole new world to me. There is a REAL world behind one would never expect. Beyond the well known paper-ships and paper-cranes and all I didn't know that there exists something like paper-art and even industrial origami. Did you know that some origami artists develop techniques such as for space travel to fold solar sails?! Or that BMW is very much connected to industrial origami in terms of developing shapes for their new cars?

Anyways, I was asked to work with them on the first book of the VIERECK VERLAG:

SPIRAL |Origami | Art | Design
from Tomoko Fuse, a very well known Origami Artist from Japan. Nearly 400 pages of beautiful pictures by Herbert Bungartz and Spiral-Origami of Tomoko Fuse published by Paulo Mulatinho and Silke Schröder.

Thank you for letting me be part of this spectacular project.

Opposites attract | Video Trailer

Opposites Attract from Sarah Pfeiffer on Vimeo.

One loves freedom and being spontaneous – the other is stucked in her own controlled world. What happens when they meet each other?

---

My sister is a vertical rope artist and my husband is a musician. When my sister Sarah had the premiere of her first big show I was honored to produce the video trailer for her cirque noveau show called OPPOSITES ATTRACT. My husband Tobi Weber composed the music and did the audio design. Therefore it turned into a beautiful family project.

Sarah Pfeiffer did this very new and fresh show together with her circus team colleague Josefine Rheinfurth. They wrote, directed and performed OPPOSITES ATTRACT all by themselves and their Premiere in Berlin was a huge success.
It is a very touching and astonishing debut of these two talented young female rope artists. It raises great laughter and opens space for very deep moments at the same time. This new generation of artists have a very sophisticated way to express their view of the world within cirque noveau. The typeanimation and the sounddesign should give a brief insight what this theatre piece has to offer…
Future performances to be announced at pfeiffersarah.com

Carnage | Roman Polanski

This week is last weeks screening of the film CARNAGE (Gott des Gemetzels) un film de Roman Polanski in Munich. Finaly I have to cut some late working hours to see this well-reviewed film.

I rarely had that much FUN in cinema for the last years. Roman Polanskis new film (based on a theatre play of Yasmina Reza) is the ultimate projection of our society.

The four characters (a phenomenal cast) are defined perfectly and at the time you think that this "living-room sit-in" could not get any more absurd the most unexpected twist turns this 80 minute encounter of these two couples (played by Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly) into a pure freak show of peeling off layers and layers of social politeness.

The best chamber drama of this years cinema season I think!

Marina Abramovic | The artist is present

the artist is present

The hardest thing is to do something which is close to nothing.

The last years I always have been to the Berlinale film festival watching at least 4 films a day or more. This year I heavily reduced this number to one film a day. This year I actually see something of Berlin as well besides cinemas, busses and the underground.

There is one film I want to pick out: I was especially moved by the new documentary "The artist is present" about Marina Abramovic and her preparation for her major retrospective of her work, in the museum or modern art in New York from March to May 2012. I am not very much a fan of performance art, but this film in particular has taught me to give this certain form of art at least a chance.

Very pure, very touching, extraordinary moving. Her work is radical but the piece at the MOMA is beyond radical. In my point of view she transformed the most meaningful expression of us humans into a piece of art: LOOKING SOMEONE INTO HIS EYES AND BYOND THEM.

Santino Primavera der Salon

Over the last months I was developing an identity and a website for Santino Primavera. A star-hairdresser from in Munich. It was a huge project which started in November and last friday the saloon had its opening party.

It was so much fun working together with this young, feisty and creative italian.  Thank you, for your undivided faith and the artistic freedom Santino! This is very rare among customers. And it helps to let the project grow organically. I really like this.

Santino Primavera der Salon is a very stylish and chic saloon and so we went for a stylish and chic graphic appearance. Unfortunately the embossed black printing with GMUND PAPER has been deferred.

Still. The whole design turned out MOLTO BELLO anyway!
Have a look yourself!

or visit his website: www.santinoprimavera.de

(The only thing I am really wondering about is, that he is my third hairdresser that asks me for an identity. Of course it proofs that Munich has thousands of hairdressers of course. Still. I guess I have to go to London if I want to design fashion brands.)
